While deciding for a shower head for your bathroom just keep in mind that everybody in the family is going to use it almost everyday and you should seriously consider different available options.
The purpose of having a shower goes beyond just keeping your body neat and clean to meet the basic demands of hygiene. It has therapeutic values, helps to bring down stress levels and provides relief from pain in certain cases. Above all, it is such a pleasure at the end of a hard day.
To come up to the expectations of the users, the manufacturers and designers have extended the accessories of a bathroom beyond a simple toilet, shower and a washbasin. The market is flooded with a variety of accessories that one could have in the bathroom, but personal preferences matter the most. However, factors other than purely personal choice and style have to be taken into consideration to select the right equipment for the family. Needless to remind that here’s something that you are not likely to replace frequently.
You have to take care of the technicalities of the product. Something that you may like probably won’t fit in your design of bathroom. Fitment doesn’t mean physical dimensions only; it includes plumbing and other arrangements too. For instance, one of the very popular models of showerhead called as the traditional English shower rose needs a much higher pressure for its operation and you may be required to have a pressure pump for building up the needed pressure.
The modern showerheads are available in different designs and provide more than just delivering the much-needed spray of water. You get automated shower heads for adjusting the angle, spray pattern and pressure of out coming water, enabling every member to make adjustments to his or her liking.
You also get multifunctional showerhead that may bend to alter the flow and pattern of water, or there’s one with a double head that delivers two sprays, or you may like a softer flow of water, the rose head that sprays you like a gentle rain shower.
Fixed or Hand Held Shower Heads?
Showerhead may be fixed or hand held. The working of each is different as are its plus and negative features. A fixed showerhead as is clear from its name is fixed in the ceiling or wall and delivers a steady spray in predefined fixed area.
This variety adds decorative appeal to the room, coming with stylish designer looks. The limitation is that such showers do not allow water to be sprayed around at different angles. Generally, the fixed variety is more expensive as compared to hand held designs. Not only their initial cost is more, even the day-to-day repairs are also costlier. It may involve additional plumbing as all the connecting pipe work is hidden behind the walls. Further, its height remains fixed, so the bather can’t adjust the height of the shower to his/her own height. So, at the time of installation you need to consider the average height of the members of the family.
A hand held shower head gets attached to the wall with brackets known as an adjustable riser rail that allows you to change the height of the shower with the attached flexible hose. This variety may lack the looks and appeal of a fixed showerhead, but it offers great versatility that can be put to good use. You can quickly remove the showerhead for cleaning of the shower area and adjust it at appropriate height for your child or pet.
